Several weeks before the rush of New York Fashion Week I had the opportunity to attend Project NY,  a three-day, trade-only event showcasing the Fall 2013 lines of high-end contemporary menswear designers. While there, I sat down with designer Auston Björkman and chatted with him about his label, SIR New York.

Currently in its fourth season, Auston started his own line after cutting his teeth with the likes of Thom Browne and Loden Dagger. A graduate of the menswear program at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Auston's concept behind the brand is athleticism with a hint of provocation. "It's kind of like sexy athletic wear combined with high-end...

You might be a big Don Ho, but it’s still totally inappropriate to rock your Tommy Bahama shirt out on the town. So don’t get things twisted when we say 2013 is the year of the flower. That’s right my friends, from Bottega to Gucci and all the way to Calvin, this season the boys in Milan were strutting their stuff in everything and anything floral. While on the runway the looks were a bit more exaggerated—think something out of The Birdcage—the runways must always serve as inspiration if not literal translation. So how do we make this work?

"The metaphor of my entire life is coming out," declares comedian Kevin Allison. He first came out as gay to his conservative, sexually repressed Catholic family in Ohio. Later, he came out as a human cartoon during his stint with MTV's grunge-era cult sketch troupe The State. Allison is currently coming out as a more genuine performer in his new show Risk!, which runs as both a podcast and bicoastal stage show. Both iterations showcase a plethora of comedic talents, including fellow Gen X staples such as Janeane Garofalo, Sarah Silverman and Margaret Cho, telling true stories they never thought theyʼd dare to share in public. Allison recently discussed with Instinct how risk, in its myriad incarnations, influence his life.

At the tail end of Miami's Art Basel, photographer Vincent Dilio and I packed our bags and headed south from New York to the Art Deco (and hot body) capitol of America to shoot some of this season's hottest swim suits, as seen in Instinct’s current February/March Issue. There were so many amazing shorts this season with pattern and color that we decided to bring it back to the '90s, a time when Versace prints ruled the beaches of Miami. We shot the story on the streets of Collins and Ocean on a day so hot and humid that it felt like the sun was going to melt the streets. Needless to say, our models Pedro and Cesare had no problem stripping down to cool off. Here are some behind the scenes photos from our day in the sun. Caution: These photos...

It’s no secret that the ladies love Louboutin. And while they fall in love over and over again with Mr. L and his famous red soles, those tricky little vixens aren’t shy about having a few trists with everyone from Jimmy Choo and Manolo, too. For our female friends, their relationship with their shoes are about so much more than fashion or fidelity. It’s about status. Since the dawn of the working woman, empowered ladies everywhere have gotten great satisfaction in showing the world that they don’t need a prince to buy them their glass slippers. In fact, the more fabulous the slipper, the better!

Now, McNairy and even the old guard Church’s have jumped on this trend and are offering us men super-premium footwear in styles that ...
