What do South Korean citizens think about same-sex love?
One YouTube channel tried to record the natural reactions of South Koreans as they faced gay romance. Specifically, YouTube channel JAYKEEOUT x VWVB recently published a social experiment video.
The experiment saw a gay couple asking random strangers to picture them as they embraced. In several instances, two Korean men walk up to a random citizen and ask the person to take a photo. They two men then lock into an intimate pose, which often included an innocent kiss on the check. The reaction from these random South Korean citizens, however, were very subdued.

Most of the video’s subjects didn’t understand that there were gay tones to the poses. One older woman stated that she was merely focused on taking the photo. Meanwhile, a younger gentleman thought, “that you guys are really good friends. It seems that gay romance wasn’t even a possibility for many of these random citizens.
For those that weren’t so confused by the setup, there was a subtle acceptance of the couple. For instance, a group of girls shared that they first had the “friends” idea before quickly correcting their assumption.
“Oh, they are just a couple,” said one girl.
“Guess that’s the Instagram vibe,” said another.
