It’s that time of the year. Pride Month is here, and it’s a time to celebrate ourselves and our allies.
Right now, we’re smitten with movie-review Mecca Rotten Tomatoes for a bold display of support. The hugely popular reviews aggregator displayed a fetching new rainbow logo on their socials this morning, and we give it a million thumbs up.
Furthering the festivities, RT’s home page displayed a staggering list of the 200 most critically acclaimed LGBT movies ever. Follow the link here to see what’s number one.
This is such a terrific list. It’s overwhelming to narrow it down, but among my personal favorites are Can You Ever Forgive Me?, The Crying Game, Weekend, Carol, Get Real, Call Me By Your Name, Tangerine, Stranger by the Lake, The Favourite, A Fantastic Woman, God’s Own Country, Love, Simon, Cabaret, and of course, Moonlight. You might be surprised to see Brokeback Mountain only places at #56.
My least favorite on the list is The Danish Girl because it’s actually straightwashed Oscar bait and I fully hate it. But I’m not going to get into that too much, because right now I want to focus on what’s great here.
