According to The Blast, the Georgia based reality show is incorporating it’s first gay male couple into the regular cast line up.

The couple in question are Prince Carter and Zachary Jones. Carter is a major socialite in Atlanta and Jones is a working model for the Fashion Nova brand.

Speaking to The Blast, the two men spoke about their love of Atlanta and the opportunities available there for black, gay men.

“Life as black men is extremely challenging in America today,” the couple said. “To add the word ‘gay’ presents additional challenges.”

“Atlanta is the new Hollywood,” they continued. “There is so much opportunity here. This city embraces everyone, black, white, gay, or straight.”

The two then noted how having a space like Atlanta is important as it’s still hard to be black and gay in America.

“It’s very unfortunate that we must continue to fight for our place in this world,” they said. “We are fighting just to be seen as real human beings. It’s a really sad thing.”

“Sure, many people are a little more accepting of homosexuality, but we still have a very long way to go,” they continued.

The two also noted how excited the are to be a part of the reality show.

“Sharing our life to the world allows us to show others that love is all about respect. Respecting others allows each individual to live their best life,” they said. “We just plan to show others that we are just two people who love each other dearly and truly want the best for one another.”

As for what they’ll be doing on the show, they hope to represent a gay male relationship in a positive light. In addition, Carter has allegedly become close to castmate Karlie Redd, so he’ll probably appear within her storyline as well.

While they are not the first gay couple to appear in Love and Hip Hop over all (Miles Brock and Milan Christopher appeared in the Hollywood version back in 2015), Carter and Jones are making history by representing black, gay men and Atlanta right.

The couple will appear in the eighth season of Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta, which will premiere on November 26.
