The new trailer is out for the upcoming Elton John biopic titled Rocketman.
Starring Kingsman: The Secret Service and Eddie the Eagle’s Taron Egeerton, the film will depict the British pop star’s rise to fame. More specifically, it’s been billed as “an epic musical fantasy about the uncensored human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years.”
The film also stars Jamie Bell as John’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother. As for the script, it was written by Lee Hall.
Rocketman is coming off the high heels of Bohemian Rhapsody, which was a major success at the Box Office and is now up for several Academy Awards. Ironically , Dexter Fletcher, who took over after Bryan Singer left the Queen biopic, directed Rocketman as well.
Fletcher was joined creatively by producers Matthew Vaughn, David Furnish, Adam Bohling, David Reid. Plus, Elton John himself was an executive producer along with Steve Hamilton Shaw, Michael Gracey, Claudia Schiffer and Brian Oliver.
Rocketman is expected to arrive in theaters in May, and could possibly have a go at the Cannes Film Festival as well.
