Aaron Pierre is giving Lanterns viewers plenty to talk about, but one scene in particular has become very difficult to look away from.

A clip from the HBO series shows Pierre’s John Stewart getting ready while wearing nothing but his boxers, gathering his gear before heading into action. He’s shirtless, those abs are fully on display, and then there’s the rather noticeable bulge making an appearance too. Drool, because there’s really no denying it.
It’s the sort of scene that makes you wonder whether the Green Lantern Corps has a uniform policy or whether John Stewart simply decided to give viewers a little extra motivation to keep watching.
Aaron Pierre Is Looking Very Good in Green
Pierre’s physique is certainly getting attention, but the appeal of the scene isn’t just about taking his shirt off.

There’s something particularly funny about how casually John goes about preparing himself. He’s focused on the mission while viewers are, understandably, focused on something else entirely. The abs are a bonus, the boxers are doing a lot of work, and that bulge has practically become a supporting character.

Still, Lanterns has plenty more going for it than one very thirst-inducing scene.
Lanterns Has Become a DC Hit
The series follows rookie Lantern John Stewart and veteran Lantern Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, as they investigate a murder mystery on Earth with much larger cosmic implications.
And audiences are clearly invested. Lanterns premiered to 9.3 million global viewers across its first three days of availability, including 6.6 million in the U.S. Its third episode then drew 10 million global viewers and 7 million in the U.S. during its own first three days, marking a series high at the time.
So yes, people are watching for the mystery, the Green Lantern mythology and the performances. The fact that Aaron Pierre occasionally appears in his underwear is simply a very welcome perk.
Pierre Is Taking the Success in Stride
Pierre has said he isn’t spending much time online following the reaction to the show.
“I’m rarely on the internet, but I do feel it outside of the context of the internet, and I feel an immense gratitude,” Pierre told ScreenRant.
That gratitude makes sense. Pierre’s John Stewart is at the center of one of DC Studios’ biggest television successes, giving him a major role in a franchise that has clearly connected with audiences.
And judging by that viral clip, audiences are connecting with Pierre in several different ways.
For now, John Stewart has a murder to solve and a galaxy to protect. Viewers, meanwhile, have already found their own very compelling reason to keep their eyes on Lanterns.
