Evan Mulrooney has apparently decided that one Speedo appearance was not enough. After giving RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars viewers a very memorable moment in a tiny gold Speedo, the handsome actor is back—and this time, he’s left considerably less to the imagination. Honestly, we respect the commitment to the bit.

Mulrooney has already had quite the year. Earlier this year, he appeared as a guest judge on season 11 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, earning RuPaul’s approval and, apparently, an invitation to join the Pit Crew as an honorary member for the season finale.

The uniform? A tight gold Speedo. Because apparently subtlety has been permanently removed from the job description.

Evan Mulrooney knows exactly what the gays came to see

The Speedo was only the beginning. Mulrooney has built a seriously impressive résumé beyond making audiences reconsider their relationship with swimwear. He has had recurring roles in Only Murders in the Building and Fargo, establishing himself as a rising gay actor with both acting credentials and the sort of physique that tends to generate its own supporting cast.

Now he has landed a guest role on Netflix’s Tires, and his appearance has given viewers yet another reason to suddenly become extremely interested in auto repair.

The workplace comedy follows an anxious manager trying to rescue his father’s struggling auto business while dealing with the constant aggravation of his cousin and employee. Mulrooney, meanwhile, arrives with a somewhat different repair strategy: take off absolutely everything.

Tires has entered its “oh, hello” era

During his appearance, Mulrooney appears completely naked, and at one particularly memorable moment, he turns around and shows off his peach.

Yes, that peach. Watch the full clip here.

The clip quickly made its way around social media, because apparently humanity has spent thousands of years developing advanced technology for precisely this moment.

And while we could pretend everyone is watching Tires for the nuanced exploration of family businesses, workplace anxiety and cousin-related tension, let’s be honest: Mulrooney’s appearance has given the show a very different kind of viewer engagement.

Sometimes television delivers prestige drama. Sometimes it delivers Evan Mulrooney turning around. We contain multitudes.

From Fargo to full-frontal fabulous

The funniest part is that Mulrooney really does have the acting résumé to back up all the thirst. His recurring roles on Only Murders in the Building and Fargo helped establish him as more than just another handsome face. Then came Drag Race, where RuPaul essentially looked at the man and thought, “Yes, keep him.”

Mulrooney

Mulrooney returned for the All Stars finale as an honorary Pit Crew member, and his gold Speedo appearance immediately became the kind of television moment that makes people pause, rewind and suddenly understand why the fast-forward button was invented.

Now Tires has taken things several steps further. A gold Speedo? Cute. No clothes whatsoever? Well. Someone understood the assignment.

And the Evan Mulrooney era is only getting started

Fortunately, there is more Mulrooney coming even after everyone has finished pretending they discovered him because of his acting.

He recently appeared in RuPaul’s major motion picture Stop That Train! and is slated to star in the upcoming comedy WTF Is My Password?! He has also appeared dancing alongside RuPaul in an adorable video posted to Ru’s page. So the career is moving, the credits are accumulating, and the clothes appear to be optional.

For gay viewers, this is what we like to call a well-rounded entertainment experience: handsome actor, impressive résumé, RuPaul approval, Pit Crew credentials, a gold Speedo and—now—a viral naked scene.

Play

Evan Mulrooney isn’t merely having a moment. He’s having a very, very cheeky one. And frankly, we’re happy to let him have it. Tires is streaming now on Netflix.
