Freddie Mercury To Be Added To This Airline’s Plane

The late and great Freddie Mercury is being honored by Norwegian airlines by having his face attached to the tail fin of one of their planes.

This rebranding of their plane isn’t just in honor of the great Queen front man, but also because Norwegian is celebrating its 71st anniversary.

If you want to see the airplane yourself, you’ll have to wait as it hasn’t’ been done yet. Plans are for the Freddie fin to take flight later this year.

But, if you want to see the mockup of the plane celebrating Norwegian airlines’ (and coincidentally Freddie Mercury’s) 71st birthday, there’s a photo down below.

This is not the first time that Norwegian airlines has put an iconic figure’s face on their planes.

There have been several notable people who have been honored by the airline such as athlete Booby Moore, author Roald Dahl, and pilot Amy Johnshon.

Norwegian’s Chief Commercial Officer Thomas Ramdahl said:

“As Norwegian continues its rapid expansion in the UK, our ‘tail fin heroes’ offer us a perfect chance to pay tribute to some of the greatest Britons of all time.

“Freddie Mercury inspired generations of music fans around the globe and it is a huge honor to have one of the greatest singers of all time adorn our aircraft.”

And if you still question whether Freddie Mercury deserves to have his face on the plane, just consider Mercury’s own words, “I am not going to be a star. I am going to be a legend.”

That he was. That he is.
