Okay, that’s an actual GIF of me losing my shit when I found out that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are joining forces to perform during the Super Bowl LIV (54) Halftime show. I mean, can you even?!
It’s like this little brown queer boy’s dream to see these two Latina POWER HOUSES shaking the Hard Rock Stadium to the ground with their hips.
The artists just announced today that they will gearing up for an epic performance—and we need this after Maroon 5’s sad show from 2019.
Pepsi’s Vice President of Marketing told the Associated Press:
These two remarkable artists are setting a new precedent for what this show can become, and we’re confident that this will be an incredible performance for the ages.
Not only is it incredible to see representation by people of color on one of the most watched televised events of the year, but it reinforces that JLo is having one of the greatest years ever—and SHE’S 50!

Okay, you get the point—she’s schooling everyone.
But back to the Pepsi Halftime Show.
Shakira shared on Instagram that “It doesn’t get any better than this!” and I can’t agree more
I still miss Shakira’s Spanish-only roots when I cried over my broken heart multiple times to songs like Antología, Inevitable, and Moscas en La Casa—but I’m down to see what she will bring out of her English cross-over arsenal with guns a blazin’!
It will be interesting to see what guests they bring up on stage with them or if they will just take up the entire time with some of their hit songs. If the latter, they might as well just stop the Super Bowl and let them have a full concert. It’s what the children want.
Super Bowl LIV will take place in Miami, FL on 02/02/20—magical! Tune in and if you listen carefully you’ll be able to hear me screaming at sound barrier-breaking levels as I scarf down keto-friendly snacks!
Thanks JLo and Shakira for giving me a reason to watch base–basketb–FOOTBALL!
