South Florida is arguably one of the most highly picked destinations for North Americans to visit during the winter months. It’s also a time where Floridians love to stay in their state and enjoy the low humidity, less chance of rain/hurricanes, and all the tourists coming to visit to enjoy our state and have fun.
With the great weather comes great celebrations. What better time to plan your 2020 Florida getaway than now. We’re looking forward to attending as many Sunshine State celebrations in February, March, and April as we can, especially the first ever Pride of the Americas.
We’ll share some of the top LGBTQ events of February through April from both coasts.
Which of these events will you plan your Florida vacation around?
Gay8 (Gay Ocho) – February 16
Winter Party Festival – March 4 – 10
Location: Miami Beach
Winter Party Festival is an annual, week-long celebration of music, dance, and community, produced to raise critical funds for the LGBTQ community. LIVE FREE. PLAY HARD. GIVE BACK.
The prettiest people seem to turn up for this glamorous six-day party, which takes place during the cooler months in Florida but gets fairly steamy at night. Some of the world’s top DJs are known to perform here under towering tents and streaming lights, and surrounding clubs piggyback the event with special promotions. While it’s a heavily male crowd, the event also features some special events that cater solely to women. (visitflorida.com)
PrideFest of Lake Worth and the Palm Beaches, Lake Worth – March 28 – 29
Location: Bryant Park, Lake Worth, FL
Homepage: Palm Beach Pride
Palm Beach and Lake Worth are two great areas that are often overlooked in South Florida. Just a short ride north of Fort Lauderdale, The Palm Beach area has a large and thriving gay community and a pride to experience.
Palm Beach Pride, formerly PrideFest of Lake Worth and the Palm Beaches, has grown from a small gathering to one of the largest festivals in South Florida. It’s also The Palm Beaches’ largest LGBTQ visibility event and a celebration of the community’s true and great diversity.
For a more low-key and family-friendly LGBTQ festival, Palm Beach Pride spreads throughout the Lake Worth and Treasure Coast community with not only a parade, vendors and entertainment but a sense of welcoming among the area’s restaurants and businesses. A feel-good event for sure; even the Mayor of Lake Worth typically gets involved by raising the Pride flag at City Hall each year.
Tampa Pride – March 28
Location: Ybor City, Tampa, FL
The 6th annual Tampa Pride Diversity Parade will be on March 28, 2020 in historic Ybor City, also known as the GaYBOR District. This has become a historical and annual spring event when Florida weather is most enjoyable!
In 2020 Tampa will host one of the first Pride celebrations of the year, a celebration of all the obstacles the LGBT community has overcome throughout history and a chance to draw attention to the work that still needs to be done to achieve equal rights for all!
Miami Beach Gay Pride, Miami Beach – March 28 – April 5
Location: Miami Beach, Florida
The 12th annual Miami Beach Pride will once again take place on the famous South Beach. Miami Beach Pride is a weeklong celebration with special events, social mixers, dance events, a VIP gala, an incredible 2-day festival and Parade.
Pride of the Americas – April 21 – 26
Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Hit the beach and join hundreds of thousands of individuals in bringing global attention to the inequalities LGBT+ communities face in Latin America and the Caribbean. In partnership with Pride Fort Lauderdale, events will include runway shows, an arts festival, an LGBT+ Health and Wellness Conference, a Travel Symposium, a Business of the Americas Conference and a Transgender Summit. And no festival is complete without daily sunset concerts, a beach party, a parade and other social activities at various venues around Greater Fort Lauderdale. All are welcome to fly your flag high, make an impact and radiate life — CELEBRATE YOU — because who you are is worth celebrating.
Which event are you looking forward to the most? Which one would you attend if you could? We’re excited to see you all down in Florida this Winter and Spring.
