NYC Gay Man Assaulted. Six Cops Did Nothing.

Do you trust the police? If there are issues, they are there to help, right? One gay man walking the streets of NYC found that the police are there to help, only if their actions in their eyes will make a difference in the long run.  Here's this upsetting case where two six police officers took it upon themselves to be fortune tellers and decide not to take action in a gay bashing that happened right in front of them.

A Hell’s Kitchen resident claims he was punched in the face for being gay — and that the cops he tried to report the assault to couldn’t have cared less.

“There were six [police officers], all lined up on 42nd Street,” recalled Omar Villalobos, a 25-year-old marketing manager and former Vogue intern who moved to the Big Apple from Chicago two years ago.

“I was holding one side of my face, blood pouring down my hand and onto my white shirt…and not one of them did anything about it,” he told The Post on Monday. “They said they were there for terrorist attacks, not homeless people.”

Villalobos was walking with his friend, Natasha Dalanah, along 42nd Street between 5th and 6th avenues when he was targeted by a crazed man near Bryant Park who hurled homophobic slurs at him just moments before socking him in the face at around 5 p.m. Saturday.

“He had been staring at us, really giving us a very hateful glare,” Villalobos remembered. “I was telling Natasha that I had never seen someone look so hateful. In my head, I very much dismissed it, though, because there’s crazy people in New York all the time who can’t control their facial expressions. But then out of nowhere, we just heard mumbling and then the word fa**ot.’ As I go to respond, he punches me right on my forehead, splitting me open right above my right eyebrow.”

Villalobos claimed that after the assault, his attacker — a blonde-haired, blue-eyed man who appeared to have been in his 40s — didn’t even try to escape.

“Natasha was trying to get the cops to arrest him, and then two bystanders even came over to try and get [the officers] to help, and one of the cops goes, “All they’re going to do is put him in the mental clinic and then he’ll be back on the street in no time.’”

Instead of dealing with police any longer, Villalobos said him and Natasha chose to hop in a cab and head to a CityMD near his house on 57th Street — but not before asking the cops for help one last time.

“[Natasha] said, ‘Are you really not going to do anything about it?’ And one of the officers goes, ‘Does it look like we’re helping, find someone who cares.’”

Villalobos said he wound up needing six stitches as a result of the attack — but what hurts most is knowing how he was brushed aside by the cops.

Police sources told The Post that as a result of Villalobo’s claims, the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force has been tasked to investigate Saturday’s incident.

Apparently it matters who does the assaulting.  It seems that the police were judge and jury in this case.

I wonder if this was a case of rape or robbery, would the police have left their homeland protection role and reacted differently?  Or would it have been "Nope, here for terrorists".

We need pictures of these cops and badge numbers, don't you think?
