Hearing the news that several GOP members of Congress were targeted last week at a baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, so many questions ran through our heads.  Will they blame terrorism? Was it a Democrat? Who was shot? There were also some other tasteless comments flying across the internet, but we don't need to go there.

Representative, Republican, and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise from Louisiana was critically wounded and continues to recover from the gun shot and surgery.

One of the off color comments was about Republicans will now finally look at gun control seriously. There's no way we could agree that would happen. But one thing everyone has agreed on was that if it were not for the Capitol Police, who stopped the gunman, who later died from gunshot wounds, there most likely would have been many more casualties.

“Had they not been there, it would have been a massacre,” Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told MSNBC, regarding the heroism of the Capitol Police.

Special Agent Crystal Griner took a bullet in the ankle, and her partner, Special Agent David Bailey, also was shot. Both are expected to fully recover.

After we learned more about the officers, including the fact that Griner is an African-American woman who is married to a woman, actress Martha Plimpton was among many who took note, with comment. – Huffington Post

Here's a link to a list of Scalise's votes and actions. Some highlight are his vote against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, his co-sponsoring a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman; voting against including LGBTQ people in hate crimes protections; co-sponsoring a bill to have states’ definition of marriage supersede a federal definition … you get the picture.

And a Black Lesbian cop still saved his life.  Even after someone spins a web against you, you save him from his critics?  Some of us know that being human is when you treat others like fellow humans.

As for Scalise, the phrase you reap what you sow comes to mind.  Put out good faith in your fellow man for you wish they would have faith in you.

Speaking about faith … Another tweet about the incident praised god.

The Huffington Post writer Michelangelo Signorile decided to respond to that tweet and skillfully smited the CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network).

If God saved the members of Congress, then God is a Black queer woman ― or is working through her. And they need to know that. – Huffington Post

We haven't heard much praise and honoring of … what was the Republican's name again? Oh, yes, Scalise from Louisiana.  But there is a great deal of pride for Griner and it's not because she is LGBT and Black.  It's because she is a wonderful human being. Here's another story that doesn't mention her sexuality, but her character.

Special Agent Crystal Griner, yes, you are special.  You did your job and your ENTIRE nation thanks you.
