Roger Moore – Gay Or Female Bond Wouldn’t Be ‘True To The Character’

As one of our hottest and only blond James Bond takes his curtain call in the next few weeks, the search continues for Daniel Craig's replacement.  One former licensed to kill actors, Roger Moore throws his opinion into the pile.

Roger Moore has dismissed the idea of the next James Bond being portrayed as homosexual or played by a woman.

Moore, who was Bond in seven films between 1973 and 1985, told the Daily Mail: "I have heard people talk about how there should be a lady Bond or a gay Bond. But they wouldn’t be Bond for the simple reason that wasn’t what Ian Fleming wrote".  He added: "It is not about being homophobic or, for that matter, racist – it is simply about being true to the character."

Moore recently sparked controversy when he said that a black actor like Idris Elba would not be "English-English" enough to play Bond.  He said: "A few years ago, I said that Cuba Gooding Jr would make an excellent Bond, but it was a joke! Although James may have been played by a Scot, a Welshman and an Irishman, I think he should be 'English-English'".

Meanwhile, Anthony Horowitz, the author of the latest Bond novel Trigger Mortis, recently apologised for a previous statement in which he called Idris Elba "too street" to play Bond.

New Bond film Spectre is being released in the UK and Ireland on Monday (October 26). It will then open in cinemas internationally on various later dates, with its US release scheduled for November 6. – nme.com

A female? Gay? Bisexual?  I am not sure it would matter to me what flavor the next bond is.  Okay, I'd still like him to be a male, who am I kidding.

Instinct Magazine did discuss Elba and Damian Lewis as well as the bisexuality of Craig's bond back in June with  Is Ginger the New Black? Next 007 may not be Elba, but a Red Head.  What does Craig think about his successor?

Craig has also claimed that he doesn't "give a fuck" who takes over from him as Bond and advised his successor to "make it better, that's all". Idris Elba and Damian Lewis are currently frontrunners for the iconic role, with Tom Hardy said to be a "growing favourite to play 007 too.- nme.com

  1. Hmmm, I’m not thinking that

Hmmm, I'm not thinking that the Bond franchise is all that discerning.  I remember Pussy Galore was one of the early Bond women.  I vote for Wentworth Miller, he has a Bond look about him.
