Sam Smith is opening up about what turns them on.
The British singer recently appeared on radio show SiriusXM’s Hits 1. While being interviewed, Smith was asked about their romantic and sexual situations. First, the singer noted how they’re “super single.” Then, Smith was asked for their celebrity crush. The response? Shia LaBeouf.
“Do you know who came up on my phone last night? Shia LaBeouf.” Smith said. “He’s so fit. He turns me on.”
Smith then joked, “I don’t think he’s gay. But, I’ll be happy to be his first.”
In a hypothetical world where Shia LaBeouf was gay, he would be an interesting pick for Sam Smith. Smith has been seemingly single since breaking up with Brandon Flynn last year. (Meanwhile, Flynn was having his own relationship issues). But while some fans have been furiously naming other celebrities for Smith to date, the singer has been focusing on their music career and an upcoming album. We can see this in their cover of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” or the music video for “How Do You Sleep.”
Speaking of the latter music video, Smith shared that creating the video was “incredibly scary.” To Smith, being vulnerable and showing their feminine side is a scary task.
“I realize now that’s the best space to be in,” Smith said. “You feel joy quicker when being vulnerable like that.”
The star continued, “I’ve always been like that when in the club, with friends, with people that I feel safe with, but showing it to the world is a different thing, and I finally felt safe enough to do so.”
Thankfully though, Sam Smith is fighting against that fear and trying their best to be their truest self. Hopefully, that will give others the confidence to do the same.
