Between Zika and the humidity, Florida is losing its appeal. Now we have to figure out why a college student and teenager did what he did earlier this week. I live about 50 miles away from the scene of the crime and have been waiting for more news on this incident, following the local news, hoping to hear some type of clarification, mainly as to why it this couple was chosen and what might have set off this young man.
The first video below was made the night of the incident.
TEQUESTA (CBSMiami/AP) — A Florida State University student accused of killing a couple and biting the dead man’s face remains hospitalized but is now conscious with guards by his side.
Austin Harrouff, 19, is unable to speak due to a breathing tube, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. His life-threatening condition was upgraded to “stable” on Wednesday.
Deputies had not formally charged Harrouff with any crimes but the sheriff’s office says they are working with the State Attorney’s Office to determine the charges. – miami.cbslocal.com
Detectives said Wednesday they served a search warrant for additional testing of his blood, hair and DNA. It’s meant to help them get a more in-depth look of what was in his system. The tests have been sent to Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The results are expected to come back within 1 to 3 weeks.
Harrouff reportedly tested negative for a number of drugs, including methamphetamine. Results for substances known to cause excited delirium — such a flakka and bath salts — are pending. Synder noted that Harrouff didn’t have the raised body temperature often associated with flakka use. – miami.cbslocal.com
It was in May of 2012 where police had to shoot a man doing the same thing as Harrouff.
The moment police shot a naked man to death as he chewed the face off another man has been caught on CCTV.
Images show the legs of two men lying beneath a freeway underpass in Miami when a police car arrives on the scene.
Police shot the man thinking it would end the attack, but the aggressor continued to bite his victim prompting authorities to fire at least half a dozen shots until he died.
So many reports are saying this was definitely flakka, but how can they say that when results will take 1 to 3 weeks. Then there are others saying the attacker is only alive because he is white. Were the police protecting lying when they said they did not shoot due to the proximity of the victims and the attacker?
If the results come back and it is not flakka, is there a new drug out there we need to be worried about?
Or was this just a mental snap?
We will have to wait and see. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.
