Tom Daley is once again reminding us that retirement from competitive diving does not mean retirement from giving the gays something to look at.

The Olympic champion, knitter extraordinaire, entrepreneur, and father of two, has spent years turning his athletic physique into an unofficial public service. This time, however, he has added rhinestones to the equation, because apparently a toned body and sunshine simply weren’t fabulous enough on their own.

Sunshine, muscles, and a little sparkle

Relaxing aboard a boat, Tom stretches out in the sunshine with his abs on full display, looking every inch the professionally trained athlete he is. His skin is glistening in the light, his body is relaxed, and for someone who has spent years competing at the highest level, he appears remarkably comfortable doing absolutely nothing. Then he turns around. And that’s when the real fashion statement arrives.

Daley is wearing a snug pair of swim briefs decorated with a bedazzled message that reads, “DANCE GAYBOY DANCE FOR CHAMPAGNE.” Subtle? Absolutely not. Gay? Extremely. And frankly, we’re rather fond of the messaging.

The sparkling letters add some campy personality to an otherwise very straightforward piece of swimwear, while Daley’s pose gives us another glimpse of the powerful back and glutes that helped make him one of the most recognizable divers in the world.

It’s less “serious athlete on vacation” and more “Olympian accidentally becomes the hottest person at the pool party.”

Hot Olympic diver, but make it crafty

Of course, there is considerably more to Daley’s creative empire than swimwear.

The former Olympic athlete has turned his passion for knitting into Made With Love, a business celebrating his love of yarn and handmade creations. The brand offers everything from yarn and knitting supplies to clothing and accessories, including sweaters, leisurewear, hats and bags.

And yes, there are briefs.

Because if anyone was going to combine knitting with underwear, it was probably going to be Daley.

His enthusiasm for crafting has become one of the more unexpected parts of his public persona. The man who once spent his days twisting through the air from a diving platform can now be found happily working with yarn, designing pieces and encouraging others to discover the joy of making things themselves.

Olympic discipline meets gay chaos

That’s perhaps what makes Daley so entertaining. He has the discipline of an elite athlete, the creativity of a designer, and the ability to embrace a thoroughly silly fashion moment without taking himself too seriously.

The bedazzled swim briefs perfectly capture that combination.

There is the meticulously trained body, the carefully made clothing and then a sparkling declaration demanding that the gayboy dance for champagne.

Honestly, what more could we want from a boat day?

Tom Daley has already mastered the dive. Now he’s apparently mastered the art of making swim briefs sparkle, too.
