Your New Freddy Mercury Has Been Chosen.

I've always been a Freddie Mercury fan well before I knew he was family.  The power and the emotion and the … just everything.  My roommate would always walk in on me while I watched his biography on the television every time it was on.  Yes, I was obsessed.

When they announced that Sacha Baron Cohen was going to play Mercury in the upcoming biopic, I had my reservations, but didn't have long to think about it.

Sacha Baron Cohen told Howard Stern he dropped out of the long-in-the-works Freddie Mercury biopic over disagreements with Queen over how the film would portray the more salacious aspects of the late singer's life.

"There are amazing stories about Freddie Mercury," Cohen said on The Howard Stern Show Tuesday. "The guy was wild. I mean he was living an extreme lifestyle. There are stories of… little people with plates with cocaine on their heads walking around a party." – rollingstone.com

The search left Sacha behind and went on for the best Freddy for the part.  Apparently it has just stopped with Mr. Robot himself, Rami Malek.

"Looking forward to@ramimalek@whoismrrobot playing#Freddie photo @therealmickrock,"  Singer wrote.

[Bryan] Singer's press representative Simon Halls confirmed that Malek is in final discussions to star as Mercury.

The key casting restarts the long-awaited project centered on the charismatic Mercury. Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen had been attached to star in the film for years. There is no announced timeline for production or release of the film.

Malek has won an Emmy and a Critics' Choice Award for his role as vigilante hacker Elliot Alderson in Mr. Robot, a critically acclaimed USA Network drama.

Mercury, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor formed Queen in 1970 and went on to record hits such as Bohemian RhapsodyWe Are the Champions and Somebody to Love.

In November 1991, Mercury released a statement from his deathbed confirming he was suffering from AIDS. He died of complications from the disease in his London mansion days later at age 45. – usatoday.com

Happy with the choice?

Were you happy with Sacha's exit?

We know that Rami can push the envelope a little ( Rami Malek Bares His Butt On 'Mr. Robot' ).  We get to see just about all of him in that.  With that in mind, do you think they should show the more racy parts of Mercury's life?

I am glad they got a real actor with depth to play Freddie Mercury! the racy part of his Life?  why not …it can be done with some restraint . ….he was a private person. …he had struggles just like every human being. In the end he made drastic alterations in his life style and I grieve he reconciled with the Lord!
