2018 Emmy Awards Were The Most Diverse Ever? LGBT Actors & Topics Score Big.

The LGBT community was front and center at the 2018 Emmys. From the first skit involving Ricky Martin and Kate McKinnon as well as Tituss Burgess with a splash of Ru Paul, the Emmys were strutting their diversity all night long.  And the show was not afraid to toot its own horn as the broadcast began with this song and dance skit titled “We Solved It!"

Did they?  Did they really solve it?  We're getting there!

Solving some of the world's problems in their own way, the FAB 5 from Queer Eye were on stage to present an award, but they as well won 3 Emmy Awards themselves, which they talked about back stage.

Could you get much gayer than “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” which won for Limited Series, Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie (Darren Criss), and Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special (Ryan Murphy).  Here's Darren Criss on the red carpet talking about "The Assassination" and the ride it has been.

One of my mostest favourite-est actors ever is the winner of the Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Thandie Newton (“Westworld”).  I had forgotten that she is an openly bisexual actor and I watched "Westworld" mainly to see her for she made the show for me. Yes, I teared up a little as I feel she is more than deserving of the award.

Ru Paul was on the stage a couple of times, once for the opening act and another time to accept the award for Reality Competition “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”  Here is Ru's 7-minute Q&A backstage.

"Don't take life too seriously."  Indeed.  "Follow your heart."

Hannah Gadsby – I left the Emmys for a brief moment and came back to see you on stage.  Bravo for the humor, probably some of the funniest and raw we saw of the night.

To all the shows we love, to all the actors that get us to watch, you're all winners.

Until next year!  And remember, The name Emmy is a German baby name. In German the meaning of the name Emmy is: Hardworking. Keep up the hard work!
