RuPaul’s Drag Race is spreading its reach yet again.
DragCon NYC is currently underway, and earlier today the convention was rocked with its biggest announcement. RuPaul’s Drag Race is getting a live show residency in Las Vegas.
“RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!” will be hosted at the Flamingo Las Vegas in early 2020. This Las Vegas show will include everything you expect from a “Drag Race” performance. Dancing, comedy, lip-syncing, live music, fashion, and plenty of real talk.
It was Ru herself who revealed the residency at DragCon over at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, according to the New York Post.
”‘RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!’ is an immersive, interactive thrill-ride for everyone who loves to laugh, dance and sing along when a fabulous drag queen shakes her padded ass on stage,” said the titular star.
While an exact date for this 2020 Vegas show wasn’t shared, info about the rotating set of queens performing at the show was announced. Turns out, there will be a rotating cast of seven queens performing at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Sundays starting in January.
Included in the group a queens are Season 11 winner Yvie Oddly; Season 11 contestant Kahanna Montrese; New Yorker and Season 10 winner Aquaria; Asia O’Hara and Kameron Michaels (Season 10); Eureka O’Hara (Seasons 10 and 9); Derrick Barry, Kim Chi and Naomi Smalls (Season 8); Coco Montrese (Season 5); India Ferrah (Season 3); and Shannel (Season 1).
In addition, RuPaul’s name won’t be his only contribution to the show. RuPaul will direct the production along with filmmaker Jamal Sims of When the Beat Drops. In addition, World of Wonder and Voss Events will produce the show.
And despite the fact that a premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, pre-sale tickets are already on the horizon. You can start pre-ordering your tickets this coming Tuesday at 1 p.m. est at rupaulsdragracelive.com. Plus, Caesars Rewards and loyalty members and Live Nation and Ticketmaster customers can purchase tickets on 1 p.m. est on Wednesday at ticketmaster.com/dragracevegas. Then lastly, general tickets will go up on Friday at the same time. Tickets for the show start at $49.
