Hot, muscled R&B crooner Durrell Babbs, better known as “Tank,” recently made heads turn during a discussion on the Angele Yee podcast. In the now-viral clip, Tank joins Yee on a panel with three other female guests. There to promote his upcoming album, Elevation, a conversation about honesty emerged.
Yee distinctly raised the question, “If a man lies twice, does that mean he is a liar? To which Tank replied, “No, I’ve done construction work in the past, but that doesn’t make me a construction worker.”
Ok fair enough, but Yee was not ready to move on, so then she posed the next question, “Ok, so then let’s say a guy sucked a d**k once, let’s say twice, does that mean he’s gay?”
Unwavering from his ‘construction worker’ defense, Tank replied, “No, here’s the thing. Twice is excessive, but let’s dig into it.”
Then, sending Twitter into a frenzy, he continued,
“So ok, he sucked a dick once, right? And then he’s like, ‘I’m not sure if I liked it or not. Let me try it again. And then he says, ‘You know what, it’s not for me, I don’t like the taste! It doesn’t mean he’s gay. It just means he sucked d**k twice.”

This isn’t the first time Tank has stirred controversy over matters relating to homosexuality. Though he identifies as straight and is married to a woman, he has legions of gay fans who he adores, and he’s a staunch advocate against homophobia and for LGBTQ equality.
Tank is known not just for his incredible singing voice, but a gorgeous gym–worked body that he puts on display during his performances for both his gay and straight audiences. In the hyper-masculine world of Hip Hop and R&B, some fellow performers have mocked Tank for his pro-gay positions and performances. Regarding this latest issue from the Angele Yee podcast, Rapper and mogul 50 Cent posted a most ignorant response:
In 2017 Tank’s gay following was on full display during his performance at DC’s Black Gay Pride. Video went viral of the shirtless, sweaty hunk performing his oh-so-naughty song, “F*ckin With Me.” With suggestive lyrics such as “Every time I lick it, you lose it…You got it all over my face; I love the way that it tastes,” the performance tantalized the crowd so much that one queen in the audience even defied gravity and somehow raised one leg straight into the air while seemingly standing on the other one.
Oh, and there’s also that other time when aTank video went viral from a Mississippi club where he allegedly told a crowd something that sounded like the admission, “I been sucking d**ks and foreheads for a long time.”
Now, agreed that makes zero sense, but watch and listen for yourself. It really does sound like he said, “I been sucking d**ks” in that video. As for the rest of his phrase though, I have no idea how you can suck on somebody’s forehead. Any ideas?
Tank recently responded to all the backlash and once again denounced homophobia. Even if his words don’t win you over, that damn smile will. Wooo LAWD H’MERCY that man is FOINE!
