The recently wrapped awards season is annually known for viral moments and memorable speeches. But this year, what seems to be one of the wow moments was the surprise performance by the Gay Men’s Chorus (along with the earth shattering vocals of the divine Alex Newell) at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. Watch as the chorus emerged from the wings to sing “Gay Spirit (Laura Dern)” to the thrill of the Film Independent Spirit Awards attendees and Dern.
The song was written by composer Greg O’Connor and lyricist Jordan Firstman.
After the Awards show performance, O’Connor and GMCLA’s Quinn Coleman partnered with famed DJ duo The Perry Twins, to craft a dance remix version of the musical sensation of the season. We thought it was too good to keep sitting on YouTube, so here is the making of new mix!
