The runner-up for the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race will not only be acting on Broadway, but she’ll be in a leading role. But that’s not all. Miss Peppermint will be the first transwoman in a leading role on Broadway.

Peppermint came out as trans while taking part in Drag Race.

She shared her gender identity on the show while she talked about the topic of gender. Then, she later came out to the public after the show’s production had wrapped.

“It was actually though my drag that I realized my transness,” she explained. “I’m trans. I’m a trans woman.”

Now, it’s been announced that she will be starring in a new show called Head Over Heels. The musical, described as “Elizabethan love story turned on its head,” will feature songs from the Go-Go’s and a few songs from Belinda Carlisle’s solo career.

On top of that, the show will be produced by Gwyneth Paltrow and directed by Michael Mayer (of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, American Idiot, and Spring Awakening).

In addition, Miss Peppermint will be joined on stage by Rachel York (Disaster!), Jeremy Kushnier (Cirque Du Soleil Paramour), Alexandra Socha (Spring Awakening) and Ricardo Zayas (Hamilton).

Congratulations to Miss Peppermint!
