Score another one for kid’s cartoons.
Last night, the series finale of popular cartoon Adventure Time aired and with it was a fantastic coming out scene and same-sex kiss.
For fans of the Adventure Time series, there has been interest in two main characters becoming an item for several years now.
The characters Marceline the Vampire Queen and Princess Bubblegum, or the couple name “Bubbline," have showed romantic chemistry for a few seasons now. On top of that, series creator Pendleton Ward hinted that the two previously dated back in 2014.
Fans who have become invested in this aspect of the story were delighted last night in a scene concerning the two. While recovering from a battle, Marceline thought Princess Bubblegum had been lost. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case and the two embraced with a loving kiss.
Of course, online fans celebrated.
Even better, the end of the episode showed a “Where Are They Now?” montage. Between showing all the other characters after the end of the main conflict, we got to see our newly confirmed couple.
Enjoying a happy ending that not many LGBTQ couples get in entertainment media, the scene showed Princess Bubblegum and Marceline enjoying a nice TV date.
But this might not be the end of our favorite couple. While the tv series has officially ended, the story of Adventure Time will continue in a comic series. So if you’re a new or old fan of Bubbline, you can follow their adventures with the rest of the Adventure Time gang in comic book form.
The art is so ugly. No wonder
The art is so ugly. No wonder why anime has completely overshadowed US animation worldwide.
