The founder of the majorly successful skin car company Deciem has sadly passed away.
According to WWD, Brandon Truaxe died in Toronto this past weekend.
A company email shared the news of Truaxe’s passing. The email, which was penned by chief executive officer Nicola Kilner, did not share the cause of death.
That said, a spokeswoman for the Toronto Police came forward with a statement. The spokesperson said that police arrived at the intersection of Mill Street and Parliament around 1:30pm on Sunday.
The police were tipped off about a “jumper” in the area. While the authorities never identified this “jumper,” fans of the Deciem company theorized that it might have been Truaxe. This is because he posted his home address of 33 Mill St. on Instagram that very weekend.
Truaxe, who had been known for being a “trailblazer in transparency” was once known for saying, “I actually do have a filter. It’s a filter that takes anything that you’re not supposed to say and amplifies it even bigger.”
But fans and coworkers say that Truaxe had been acting strangely in the past year. Truaxe had posted business announcements on Instagram, cc’d reporters in company emails, and even announced that the company should be shut down for committing financial crimes. This eventually led to him being pushed out of his own company.
After hearing of his death, several friends and colleagues shared words of sorrow for Truaxe’s passing. The company itself posted the following statement through Instagram:
“Brandon, our founder and friend. You touched our hearts, inspired our minds and made us believe that anything is possible. Thank you for every laugh, every learning and every moment of your genius. Whilst we can’t imagine a world without you, we promise to take care of each other and will work hard to continue your vision. May you finally be at peace. Love, (forever) your Deciem.”
