From the creator of 'Last Will & Testicle" – Tragedy Turned Into An Award Winning Web Series, we are given a pilot for 'Gay Divorce.' It was created as an entry to the “See Yourself” Project Greenlight Digital Studios digital series contest focusing on LGBTQ filmmakers and content.
Over at Gaydivorcewebseries.com, Byron Lane writes.
I heard about Project Greenlight's See Yourself contest and one week later, cameras were rolling, and the pitch video was shot in just one day. Given the incredible breakthroughs of marriage equality, the concept of "gay divorce" feels fresh and relevant. My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years, I'm 38, and this is my first serious relationship. Like many other gay couples, this is the first time the concept of marriage has really been on the table, and likewise, the concept of divorce. GAY DIVORCE explores themes of lifetime commitment and open relationships in a sometimes hyper-sexualized community, how a marriage (and divorce) is not just about two people but also affects their friends and families, and how love can be a such a rewarding and wrought adventure. – Gaydivorcewebseries.com
If you remember, Project Greenlight started as a feature film reality show with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and now, years later, there are several versions of the light. This one is called "See Yourself" (#SeeYourself) and is a contest consisting of LGBTQ digital series. The winner will receive a development deal.
The “See Yourself” digital series contest is a partnership between Project Greenlight Digital Studios, Section II, and GLAAD focusing on LGBTQ filmmakers. We are awarding a filmmaker or filmmaking team with a development deal to produce a digital series that focuses on themes relevant to LGBTQ audiences.
The contest begins August 2, 2016. To enter, please submit a 1-2 minute pitch for your digital series. Pitches can be dramatic, comedic, docu-style, or thriller/horror/sci-fi-themed. Pitch videos are due on August 19, 2016 by 11:59pm. Even if you don’t enter, you can still vote for the top finalists starting on August 30, 2016.
One filmmaker or filmmaking team will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a development deal to create an original digital series with Section II and Adaptive Studios. – ProjectGreenlight
In talking with Byron, he's happy to be in the top 20, but he's also "SO EXCITED for a world where there's more great gay content!"
