Australia May Soon Have Marriage Equality

Malcolm Turnbull, Australia's Prime Minister, just made it easier for a marriage equality bill to be introduced in Australia.

Originally, Turnbull, wanted a nationwide vote to happen before legislation could be introduced, but seems to be backing off on it. Proponents of marriage equality argued that a spike in LGBT youth depression and suicide may occur, due to the campaign against marriage equality. Also, reports say that the majority of Australians support marriage equality.

With this move, the legislation can be introduced next week when Parliament returns. Trevor Evans, an openly gay Federal Liberal MP plans to introduce the legislation next week, saying it is the quickest and most efficient way to deal with the issue.

4 Liberal MP's would need to cross lines to join the Labor party to force a vote. If put to a vote, Parliament is expected to pass it.
