Prince William is voicing his support of LGBTQ people and of the possibility that his kids come out as LGBTQ.

While visiting the Albert Kennedy Trust, an LGBTQ charity to support homeless youth, William was asked for his thoughts on LGBTQ youth. Specifically, the prince, who’s second in line for the British throne, was asked if he’d support his children, George, Charlotte, or Louis, if they came out as gay or lesbian.

According to the London Economic, Prince William responded by saying:

“Do you know what, I’ve been giving that some thought recently because a couple of other parents said that to me as well. I think, you really don’t start thinking about that until you are a parent, and I think – obviously absolutely fine by me.”

The prince then went on to comment on how his main concern as a parent is the well-being and happiness of his kids.

“The one thing I’d be worried about is how they, particularly the roles my children fill, is how that is going to be interpreted and seen,” he commented. “So Catherine and I have been doing a lot of talking about it to make sure they were prepared. I think communication is so important with everything, in order to help understand it you’ve got to talk a lot about stuff and make sure how to support each other and how to go through the process.”

That said, the royal does have some fears. As a true British royal, William is concerned with the public’s opinion of his hypothetical gay child.

“It worries me not because of them being gay, it worries me as to how everyone else will react and perceive it and then the pressure is then on them,” said the prince.

The prince also took a moment to express that he “was really appalled” by the story of a traveling lesbian couple being attacked on a London Bus.

William’s words are the latest in an increasingly vocal Royal family’s support of LGBTQ people. Prince Henry and Duchess Meghan Markle expressed their support for LGBTQ rights after getting engaged. In addition, the Queen hired an openly gay footman to serve her. Then the royal family had its first gay wedding thanks to a cousin of the Queen.
