South Florida is arguably one of the most highly picked destinations for North Americans to visit during the winter months. It’s also a time where Floridians love to stay in their state and enjoy the low humidity, less chance of rain/hurricanes, and all the tourists coming to visit to enjoy our state and have fun.

With the great weather comes great celebrations. What better time to plan your 2020 Florida getaway than now.  We’re looking forward to attending as many Sunshine State celebrations in February, March, and April as we can, especially the first ever Pride of the Americas

We’ll share some of the top LGBTQ events of February through April from both coasts.

Which of these events will you plan your Florida vacation around?

Gay8 (Gay Ocho) February 16

Location: Little Havana, Miami

Gay8 (Gay Ocho) Festival is hosted by the Hispanic/Latino/Latinx, LGBTQ+ community.  It’s a chance to enjoy a free music, art, film, and food festival in one of the more unique parts of Miami.  With reports of 80,000+ people attending the one day event, the festival attracts people from varied parts of South Florida Little Havana, an area of Miami facing widespread gentrification.

Many people have described Gay Ocho as the “thrill of mixing it up” – “the pride of inclusion” – “a blurring of the lines that divide our communties” – very different people coming together in one South Florida community to share an amazing day.

An “arroz con mango” (“stickey mess”) of delight, fun, music, art, food, cafecito, salsa, dancing, parties wrapped in a colorful, historic, magical area that captures the imagination of a wonderful carribean/latin day and night on the town. AND all of it hosted by South Florida’s Hispanic/Latino/Latinx LGBTQ+ community! – eventbrite.com

I’m a visual learner so let’s roll some footage from previous years.

Winter Party Festival – March 4 – 10

Winter Party Festival is an annual, week-long celebration of music, dance, and community, produced to raise critical funds for the LGBTQ community. LIVE FREE. PLAY HARD. GIVE BACK.

The prettiest people seem to turn up for this glamorous six-day party, which takes place during the cooler months in Florida but gets fairly steamy at night. Some of the world’s top DJs are known to perform here under towering tents and streaming lights, and surrounding clubs piggyback the event with special promotions. While it’s a heavily male crowd, the event also features some special events that cater solely to women. (visitflorida.com)

PrideFest of Lake Worth and the Palm BeachesLake Worth – March 28 – 29

Palm Beach and Lake Worth are two great areas that are often overlooked in South Florida. Just a short ride north of Fort Lauderdale, The Palm Beach area has a large and thriving gay community and a pride to experience.

Palm Beach Pride, formerly PrideFest of Lake Worth and the Palm Beaches, has grown from a small gathering to one of the largest festivals in South Florida. It’s also The Palm Beaches’ largest LGBTQ visibility event and a celebration of the community’s true and great diversity.

For a more low-key and family-friendly LGBTQ festival, Palm Beach Pride spreads throughout the Lake Worth and Treasure Coast community with not only a parade, vendors and entertainment but a sense of welcoming among the area’s restaurants and businesses. A feel-good event for sure; even the Mayor of Lake Worth typically gets involved by raising the Pride flag at City Hall each year.
