Chris Salvatore is taking a break from OnlyFans after four years, and his reason is less about scandal than something considerably more relatable: sometimes you try something, learn a lot from it, and eventually realize it just isn’t for you.

The Eating Out actor opened up about stepping away from adult content in an interview with Out, explaining that the experience eventually left him feeling “empty” and no longer aligned with the kind of intimacy he wants in his life.

“I did OnlyFans for like four years,” he said. “It’s a tough industry. It can wear on you. Over those four years, I’ve learned that I’m really not meant for it.”

And honestly, there is something refreshing about hearing someone admit that a job that looks very appealing from the outside can feel completely different once you’re the one doing it.

Why Chris Salvatore Needed a Break From OnlyFans

Salvatore said his decision to join OnlyFans originally came from a very practical place. His dog needed surgery after breaking a leg, and he needed money to cover it.

“Times were tough. My dog needed surgery on his broken leg and I needed cash,” he said.

So this wasn’t necessarily a carefully plotted career pivot into adult entertainment. It was a way to make money during a difficult moment. Four years later, however, Salvatore says he had learned enough about the industry — and himself — to know that it wasn’t where he wanted to stay.

For Salvatore, the bigger issue came down to connection. He described himself as demisexual and said that intimacy means something different to him when there is an emotional bond involved.

“There’s no judgement on my end, but I needed to take a break. I’m more of a demisexual,” he said. “I really honor connection before intimacy, especially now, being in my 40s.”

That distinction matters. Salvatore isn’t saying adult content is inherently bad, nor is he criticizing the people who make it. He’s explaining why the experience didn’t work for him personally.

Chris Salvatore Says Filming Adult Content Took a Toll

The difference between looking sexy and performing sex for a camera can apparently be a much bigger one than the internet might lead you to believe.

Salvatore said the actual filming process became increasingly difficult for him, particularly because it didn’t necessarily match how he naturally approaches intimacy.

“It was hard to show up on set and just go to town,” he said. “After I recognized that, it started to affect me quite a bit.”

He also acknowledged that adult entertainment can be demanding in ways that aren’t always obvious to viewers.

“It can be taxing physically and emotionally on different types of people. More power to the ones who are doing amazing at it! …I would feel empty afterwards.”

That doesn’t sound like someone trying to shame the industry. If anything, Salvatore seems pretty clear that different people simply respond to it differently. What works brilliantly for one person can leave another wondering why they feel like they’ve just finished an emotionally exhausting group project.

And for someone who describes himself as a “hopeless romantic,” the separation between physical intimacy and emotional connection apparently became harder to maintain.

Chris Salvatore Is Returning to Acting With Scorch Marks

The good news for fans who remember Salvatore from his acting days is that he’s not disappearing. He’s redirecting his energy toward projects that actually make him feel fulfilled.

“This break might not be forever, but I’m trying to do projects that make me feel good and lift me up,” he said.

The movie follows Beckett, played by Brandon Shypkowski, who wakes up to what appears to be a devastated world. Things get considerably worse when he realizes he’s trapped alongside the eerie presence of his abusive ex-husband, Joel, played by Salvatore.

Play

Yes, Salvatore has gone from boy-next-door energy to “dead abusive ex-husband who comes back from the pits of hell.” Career growth can take many forms.

“I come back from the pits of hell to haunt my ex-husband! It’s a really fun film, but it highlights the scary parts of toxic relationships. We all have a story like that. It’s really different from what I’ve done before. I’m used to playing the boy next door, so I hope people see me in a different light,” Salvatore said.

The role gives him a chance to show a different side of his acting, rather than being primarily associated with the sexy, shirtless roles and adult content that have become part of his public image.

From Eating Out to a New Chapter

Long before OnlyFans, Salvatore was known to LGBTQ+ audiences as Zack in the Eating Out romantic comedy franchise, appearing in the final three films.

He eventually joined OnlyFans in 2021, but his latest comments suggest he’s now more interested in what comes next than in maintaining a particular sexy persona for the sake of it.

That doesn’t mean Salvatore has suddenly decided that showing skin is forbidden. His social media presence still includes plenty of revealing vacation photos and underwear shots. The difference is that posing for a photo and filming adult scenes aren’t necessarily the same experience.

For Salvatore, it seems the latter became too disconnected from the kind of intimacy he actually values.

“The lines get blurred so easily. It can be very complicated. I’ll just say that.”

Fair enough. Sometimes the most revealing thing a person can say isn’t about how much skin they’re willing to show. It’s about what they actually want when the cameras aren’t rolling.

For now, Salvatore is choosing acting projects that leave him feeling energized rather than empty. And if that means swapping OnlyFans for apocalyptic horror, haunted ex-husbands and the occasional trip back from the pits of hell, honestly, that’s one way to change the scenery.
