Manu Rios and Arón Piper are teaming up for their third project together, and honestly, at this point, we need a movie where these two get top billing and absolutely nothing else distracts us.
Their latest project, Day Drinker, is taking the duo in a very different direction. And by different, we mean they have gone from romantic chaos to playing brothers.
Yes, brothers. We know. Hollywood really said, “Let’s see what happens.”
From Lovers to Brothers
Rios and Piper first shared the screen in Netflix’s Elite, where their characters Patrick Blanco and Ander Muñoz became tangled in one of the show’s messiest and most memorable open relationship dynamics.
Ander was already in a long-term relationship with Omar when Patrick arrived at Las Encinas in Season 4 and promptly shook things up. The three became involved in an open relationship dynamic, complete with jealousy, complicated feelings, and plenty of drama.

Patrick and Ander never became an official exclusive couple, but their chemistry? Let’s just say Elite knew exactly what it was doing.
Eventually, Ander and Omar reconciled, while Patrick moved on. But apparently, whatever magic Rios and Piper had on screen wasn’t quite finished.

Then Came El Silencio
The pair reunited for Netflix’s El Silencio, although this time their characters weren’t flirting across the halls of Las Encinas.
Piper played Sergio Ciscar, a young man released from detention six years after being accused of murdering his parents. Sergio has remained completely silent since the incident and becomes the subject of a secret psychiatric surveillance operation.
Rios played Eneko, a supporting character in the series, giving the two actors another chance to share the screen.
Different story. Different characters. Same two ridiculously photogenic men.
We’re sensing a pattern.

Now They’re Heading to Hollywood
Their third project together takes them across the Atlantic.
In Day Drinker, Rios and Piper play brothers and the sons of Penélope Cruz’s character, Cara Lazaro. The film is directed by Marc Webb and also stars Johnny Depp and Madelyn Cline.
And yes, going from Elite lovers to brothers is quite the character development.
Day Drinker is currently scheduled for release on March 26, 2027, giving us plenty of time to process this unexpected family tree situation, and allowing us the opportunity to rewatch Elite and El Silencio (Muted)
From queer love triangle to psychological thriller to Hollywood family drama, Rios and Piper have already covered quite the range.
At this point, we’re not asking for much.
Just give these two their own movie. They’ve already proven they have the chemistry. Now we just need Hollywood to stop making us share them with everyone else.
