Philly Gay Basher Kathryn Knott Learns Being Homophobic is Costly

Kathryn Knott is learning that being homophobic comes at a very big price, and she is continuing to pay for what she and her friends did a couple of years ago.

She, as well as Kevin Harrigan and Philip Williams, have settled a civil suit with the two gay men they viciously attacked years ago.  The three of them (they were with 12 other friends at the time) were arrested in September 2014, when they attacked gay couple Andrew Haught and Zachary Hesse in Philadelphia.  Andrew was knocked unconscious and had his broken jaw wired shut for several weeks whereas Zachary sustained minor bruises to his face.

The amount that Andrew and Zachary were requesting originally was $500,000, although it hasn't been disclosed how much the actual amount was settled for.

Kevin, Phillip and Kathryn were the only ones who faced charges for the awful incident.  Kathryn was released from jail in after being convicted of simple assault, conspiracy to commit simple assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. and now will need to work a couple of extra jobs to pay them for the disgraceful things they all did that horrific night.

It's good advice for anyone who wants to act so horrifically in the future for being homophobic: it has a price to pay, and in this situation, it's a lot and will cost you more than just money.

  1. People: There is a big

People: There is a big difference between a civil suit and a Legal Prosecution.  Think before you criticize. Let's be glad the Civil Suit was won and the Legal Suit is likely to get them jail time.

  2. Is this a bad translation

Is this a bad translation from a foreign site or did you mean to write it that way? It settled but it's going to trial, "her" instead of she, you left out the part where she and her father are being investigated for missuse if police dept. resources, etc…..

Great article…. seriously great reporting. So in conclusion 3 people that were part of a gay bashing will be part of an unsettled civil suit due for trial on December 4th.

Glad you’re paid by the word…

So did it settle or not? The title on the instinct home page says it’s settled and the article initially says yes, but then says it’s going to trial still…

Huge run on sentence in the second and third paragraphs. might want to proofread before you publish.

Not to mention "Her, alongside Kevin Harrigan and Phillip Williams, have settled a civil suit" — is Ryan Shea a pseudonym for Bizarro Lois Lane?
