From Philly Pride and Outfest’s annual events, to the numerous bars and restaurants in Philly’s Gayborhood that offer something for everyone, there is always plenty for the LGBT community of Philly to be proud about. This past week, The City of Brotherly Love once again celebrated the passion that they have for equality at one of the Philadelphia Flyers “Pride Nights”, during the third “Hockey Is For Everyone” event on the NHL’s 2020 calendar so far. The event’s (and the Flyers’) wooftastic mascot headlined the event, with the famed Gritty waving his rainbow flag on the ice throughout the event.

Intermission during this event even saw Philadelphia Pride organizer Franny Price recognized and interviewed, as well as a showcasing of some of the programs in the city that offer support to LGBTQ homeless youth. You Can Play is a co-host of Pride Night, which is an organization that is dedicated to the eradication of homophobia in sports. From warmups with Pride Tape and a pre-game pride party, the night was filled with ways to show both your Philly and individual pride. An added bonus; all proceeds from the event went to benefit local LGBTQ geared programming.
An added bonus from the evenings rainbow filled events?-The Philadelphia Flyers beat the Washington Capitals that night with a 2-3 win. Go Flyers!
