The Hunger Games just got a whole lot campier, and we have Billy Porter and Glenn Close to thank for it. Because apparently, Panem needed a little more fashion, a little more drama, and at least one questionable reptile accessory courtesy of Porter’s character.
And if you know anything about the Capitol, you already know these two have plenty of room to have some fun.
The sixth Hunger Games movie takes us back 24 years before the events of the original trilogy, this time following a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games.
This is no ordinary Games, either. The Second Quarter Quell doubles the number of tributes, sending twice as many young people into the arena.

Glenn Close Is Ready for the Reaping
Close plays Drusilla Sickle, the Capitol escort responsible for traveling to District 12 for the reaping.
Drusilla is apparently not the type to believe that less is more when it comes to a look. During the 49th Hunger Games, she famously decorated her face with thumbtacks featuring tiny buzz-saw blades.
Because when you are announcing who gets sent into a televised death match, apparently regular accessories simply won’t do.
Close, of course, needs little introduction. The Oscar-nominated legend has given us everything from Dangerous Liaisonsand 101 Dalmatians to Fatal Attraction, and now she gets to take her talents to Panem.
Billy Porter Is Bringing the Reptile Couture
Then there is Porter, who plays Magno Stift, District 12’s longtime stylist.
Magno has been dressing District 12’s tributes for at least a decade and has a very particular philosophy when it comes to fashion: live reptiles. Yes, you read that correctly. And no, we’re not entirely surprised. It is the Capitol they’re trying to please after all.
For the 49th Games, Magno’s turtle belt buckle reportedly fell off and bit Drusilla (Glenn Close), who promptly bit Magno back. Things only get more chaotic from there. He also sent the tributes to their interviews wearing their training outfits, earning himself a stint on probation. Whether this will be a part of the movie, and whether we’ll see Close and Porter having at it on screen, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Haymitch’s Story Begins
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping centers on Haymitch as he enters the arena alongside fellow tribute Maysilee Donner, played by Mckenna Grace. As he forms an unlikely alliance and joins others challenging the Capitol, the Games become the beginning of something much bigger.
The film is directed by Francis Lawrence and based on Suzanne Collins’ bestselling novel. The cast also includes Jesse Plemons, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.
With Billy Porter serving reptile couture and Glenn Close arriving with buzz-saw face accessories, the Capitol is already looking very busy.
