Well, Adults may have accidentally introduced a problem we absolutely want more of.
Isaac Powell joined Season 2 of the FX comedy as Eric, a club-goer who catches Anton’s eye and sparks a flirtatious connection with Owen Thiele’s character. There was flirting. There was a smooch. There was chemistry.
And apparently, that was nowhere near enough.
Speaking with TV Insider’s Swooon, Powell admitted that even he was watching the episode and thinking there could have been more between Eric and Anton.
“When I was watching it, I was also thinking these guys have great chemistry,” Powell said. “Like, I want to see what could happen. I want to see what happens when Anton is really evenly matched and in love.”
Excuse us while we start campaigning for Season 3.

The Chemistry Wasn’t Just Acting
The chemistry between Powell and Thiele wasn’t exactly difficult to manufacture.
The two already knew each other before filming, which Powell says made their scenes feel incredibly natural.
“As soon as we saw each other, it was just like quick friends,” he explained, adding that Thiele felt like “somebody that I’d known my entire life.”
Apparently, that friendship also made it rather difficult for the actors to stop staring at each other.

Powell revealed that he and Thiele repeatedly got “lost in each other’s eyes” while filming, something that even made its way into the Season 2 blooper reel.
“That happened a few times with us on set that day,” Powell said. “Yeah, we kept getting lost in each other’s eyes. It was mutual.”
Oh. So that’s what we’re working with.

Powell was also very aware that Anton already had a dedicated fanbase behind his Season 1 relationship with Paul Baker.
“As a gay guy on the internet, I was very much aware of what was going on with the Paul Baker of it all,” he said. But after stepping into the middle of that dynamic, Powell has apparently developed his own preferred pairing: Erton.
And now he’s taking things one step further.

Could Adults Go Full Throuple?
When asked whether he would return for another season, Powell didn’t exactly need convincing.
“I would be there in a heartbeat,” he said.
Better yet, he already has a storyline in mind.
“I think it could be kind of cute to see what a… I don’t know, what a maybe a three-way romance between Anton and Eric and Paul Baker would look like,” Powell suggested. “It’s unexplored territory.”
Unexplored territory? In this economy? We need the writers to get to work.
Powell acknowledged that the show’s limited number of episodes makes it difficult to explore every relationship, but he clearly isn’t closing the door on Eric’s return.
So, will Adults Season 3 bring Powell back? Will Eric and Anton get another chance? And could Paul Baker somehow become part of the equation?
We don’t know yet.
But if Powell gets that call, at least we know he’ll be answering.
