While we may have one track trick Mary minds, an indie film that exploded across film festivals last year provides the Blueprint for a breath of fresh air in gay cinema.

Perhaps off-putting at first, the fact that Blueprint, out on DVD on March 21, offers no gay sex scenes as most queer films default to but instead a touching story of love shared between two (gorgeous) black college freshmen in New York City has helped it escalate its way to the top of film critic’s indie picks from 2009. And, if Lady Gaga can be just as ferociously fabulous without the sex, then surely we can get behind (no pun intended) a film that abstains.

Luckily, you have a chance to find o because we’re giving away copies of Blueprint, filmmaker Kirk Shannon-Butts’s...

Over the weekend Joy Behar accepted GLAAD's Excellence in Media Award, and took the podium and room full of gays as an opportunity to make some very cheeky -- and hilarious -- jokes. Shouldn't all acceptance speeches be required to be this entertaining?

We haven’t yet dipped our toes into the Vatican/Catholic priest scandal because it’s such a mess (and we just had a pedicure!), but the latest on the story is just too good to not discuss.

From yesterday’s New York Times:

As hundreds of new allegations of sexual abuse surface in the German church alone, a top Vatican official acknowledged Tuesday that, with only 10 people handling such cases, his office might not be adequate for the task.

But the official, Msgr. Charles J. Scicluna, who is effectively the Vatican’s internal prosecutor, said the church was working to bring more “transparency” to the delicate and emotional process of settling allegations of abuse by priests that have severely damaged the church’s moral stan...

In a time when threatening GLBT children from any distance is as easy as firing up an iPhone or Android or whatever the kids are using these days, updated interpretations of free speech is necessary to keeping minorities safe. A California state appeals court agrees.

Late yesterday afternoon, an appeals court in Los Angeles ruled in favor of a student suing his classmates for posting violent, anti-gay threats in the comment section of his website, declaring that such comments do not fall under the protections of the free speech umbrella.

In a 2-1 vote, the court decided that comments just like the ones posted to the website threatening to "rip out your ...

If you're in the DC area tomorrow, Thursday, March 18, why not make an appearance on Kathy Griffin's Emmy-winning My Life On The D-List and help voice support for the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell at the same time? It's like killing two birds with one rhinestone!

From Kathy:

"Calling all DC gays and ALL good citizens who support EQUALITY!!! After traveling to Iraq and Afghanistan to perform for the troops and visiting with injured vets and their families at Walter Reed, I've gotten to meet and know many gay members of our brave military. Their stories are heartbreaking, touching, and need to be heard. They cannot stand up for themselves, so it's time we stand up for them and be their voice. They put their lives on the line for ...

Usually the nightmare occurs after St. Patrick's Day (or around 6 p.m. if you're truly celebrating like an Irishman), but College Humor has imagined the Nightmare Before St. Patrick’s Day… a la Tim Burton.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

The rumors that have surrounded Lady Gaga's no-no parts were from no fault of her own, but her handling of them has upset some in the trans community. Labeling her reaction to possibly having an outie instead of an innie as trans anxiety, those offended by Lady Gaga found their criticisms sharpened by last week's release of the music video for "Telephone."

Writes one of the unimpressed, GudbuyTJane, on her popular blog:

It seems with her latest video she’s continuing this gender essentialism, slipping in a “no dick = not a tranny” joke at about a minute in, before the song even begins to play. The scene is set in a prison, and after being dragged to her cell and stripped by two women who appear to be trans Lady Gaga climbs up...
